Area Description:
Wallingford on Thames dates back to the 10th Century and was used as a strategic placing by William the Conqueror who completed building his castle in 1071. Although little remains of the castle today as a result of the defeat of the Royals by Cromwell’s army who ordered the Castle’s total dismantlement.

Wallingford was also granted a Charter by King Henry II in 1155 some 32 years before London.

Today, Wallingford has a vibrant market place with a good selection of specialist shops and antique shops coupled with a number of High Street branded stores. There is also good recreational and sporting facilities. The River Thames runs along the eastern edge of the town.
